"It gives us an inside-out punch" Bales said. "Her passing is super ... she's seen the floor extremely well, and is very selfless."
The halfcourt offense runs through Madden. Bales aim to bring the ball in the low area so she can either score , or kick-out to shooters when the defense has collapsed. Madden is making a lot of quick pass passes in the process and has resulted in the highest career average of 2.5 assists per game thus far.
"I appreciate (the added responsibility)," Madden said. "I realize that there are times when I'm capable of getting the team moving and I think that whenever we can achieve a quick start and I'm on the field, it could increase our motivation."
Madden's partner in offense is Chamberlin, whose perimeter skillset coincides perfectly with Madden's inner presence. Although Chamberlin has been struggling to shoot the ball this year, she averaged 15.9 scores per game last year, making 45% of her total shots and 72 triples at an average of 41.
Her passing is perhaps her most significant contribution in the sense that while Blue River boasts in shooting it is lacking in guard playmaking. Chamberlin's 3.2 assists per game has grown to 4.3 per game so far this season, and the defense she receives from her helps Madden as well as the players on the team perform well.
